Chiropractic and
Physical Medicine

Empowering your body to heal, move, and thrive with expert care and personalized solutions.

More Than Just
Adjustments.

Chiropractic can be a loaded term. At its root, it is the complementary medicinal practice of helping the joints in your whole body move better. Here at Swell we are both Chiropractors, but we like the term physical medicine because it encompasses the true breadth of what we do. Having both been movement specialists and educators before getting our doctorates, we don’t stop at just your classic Chiropractic care.

Physical Medicine is a broad term for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease using physical methods. It truly explains what we do as it includes exercise, joint manipulation and soft tissue care (think muscle, ligament, fascial, neural, and organ work — basically all the soft stuff we are made of). To learn more specifically about how we address organs and the nervous system, see Network Spinal and Visceral Manipulation.

Extensive Education in
Movement Therapy.

Here at Swell our extensive education in movement therapy, strength training and rehabilitation are incorporated into all of our treatment sessions. We use manual methods to give you new range of motion and relieve pain, then teach you how to keep it with world class movement. This gives you the education and tools to keep these gains long after you see us.

Much of our rehabilitative movement is based on Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS). If you haven’t heard of DNS yet, you’re missing out. It was developed by studying the way we instinctively learn to move as babies. When we don’t go through appropriate developmental movement, we create movement compensations that not only lead to injury but decrease our ability to perform and use our bodies to their full potential. With DNS, we assess and address these developmental movements to restore the instinctual movement intelligence of your body. To learn more about DNS, see Peter Attia’s Podcast with our mentor, Dr. Michael Rintala, here.

However, to get true long lasting painless movement gains, we believe in taking it a step further than just rehabilitative exercises. This is why we created our Movement Longevity and Holistic Performance movement plans. These plans are where your doctors create personalized movement plans to combine your rehab with weight training and mindful movement practices to take you beyond just feeling better. Whether you’re looking to build a solid foundation for a lifetime, or achieve high-level athletic performance.

A Personal Choice.

A note on manipulative therapy, commonly referred to as “adjustments”: Some people love it, some people don’t. We respect that. Adjusting is a tool that can be really helpful at quickly restoring motion but is in no way necessary part of care. Please let your doctor know if you would prefer to not have adjustments.
