Network Spinal and Nervous System Care

Enhancing wellness through a gentle approach to nervous system regulation & spinal health.

Cultivate Wellness
From The Inside Out.

NetworkSpinal works directly with your central nervous system to help you grease the switch from a sympathetic (fight, flight or flee) into parasympathetic state (rest and digest). We need both of these states to optimally flow through our daily lives, but it’s often easy to get jammed in a high arousal, protective state (you know the feeling?).

Our bodies are hardwired to store this stress to protect us (think about remembering exactly where that bear lives so we never have to outrun it again), causing our spinal cords to physically loose their 2-3 inches of optimal stretch. When we chronically live in this stressful state, it affects all of our bodily systems – our nervous system is the wiring to it all.

It can feel like constant muscle tightness that doesn’t go away no matter how much you stretch or rub it. It can show up as dissociation from parts of our body that had previous injury or trauma. It can feel like low emotional reserve for your loved ones, digestion aches that no diet can solve, a lack of flow, or restricted range of motion and tightness. Our bodies are intelligent and aren’t going to exert energy on digestion or relaxation or growth when we are still mentally running from that bear.

Restore Balance.

Many of us instinctively know our bodies’ remember the intensity of our lives. Practices like breath work, meditation, mindfulness, prayer, time in nature can all help regulate and release stored body tension. But these practices depend on learning how to cultivate a restful state within yourself, which can be hard to cultivate when your nervous system has been chronically tuned to stress. This is where NetworkSpinal comes in.

By making gentle contacts along your spine we can help your brain connect to your body in a way that fosters a truly restful state and promotes reorganizational waves (see these waves here)! These waves help to retrain your nervous system to be better able to flow between “running from that bear” throughout your day and calm evenings with your family, plus everywhere in between. This retraining of your nervous system is why network adjustments are called “entrainments.”

NetworkSpinal goes beyond just caring for aches and pains. It can enhance athletic performance by creating more awareness of your spine in space (fancy doctor term here is proprioception), enhanced muscle activation and less mental noise. This has been scientifically shown to be effective at increases quality of life for all ages. It is one of the many tools we offer at Swell Wellness and will be integrated into your care plan at the discretion of your doctor, as not all bodily pains are directly related to the tension in your nervous system.
